What is a secure burst report?
A ‘bursted’ report is a predefined report that is delivered to your personal folder in My Reports based on a predetermined schedule. If you are set up to have access to a ‘bursted’ report on the day it is scheduled to run, it will appear in your personal folder. If your access is set up in between runs, you will receive your report the next time it runs. ‘Bursted’ refers to the fact that you receive only the part of the report that you are authorized to see (specific department and/or accounts). These reports are delivered in a pdf format so they are easily read with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Where do I find bursted reports?
To find these reports, simply follow these steps:
- Go to the MySlice web portal
- Click on My Reports located in your Administrative Applications pagelet
- Click Yes for the message: Do you want to display the nonsecure items?
- If not already in Explore, click on the orange navigate button in the upper left and select Explore. You can also select the Explore button from the toolbar or
- Click on the folder named Personal
- Click on the subfolder named with your NetID
- All the bursted reports you have access to will be located in your Personal folder
Will ‘back up’ reports be available if I accidentally delete my bursted reports?
You will not be able to delete your ‘bursted’ reports. However, after two months, they will be automatically removed from your Personal folder. If you want to save any of these reports for more than two months, you can save the report to a local drive by clicking on the pdf to open it and then selecting save the icon from the Adobe menu.
What is a repository report?
This is a pre-defined query that may have variable limits. Variable limits allow you to select dates, accounts, programs, mycodes, etc. Your report is customized to show the information you are specifically looking for. In contrast to the ‘bursted’ reports, you can run these queries whenever you want. They may contain one or more reports.

- For Payroll Reports: Click on the Payroll Folder
When would I use a repository report vs. a bursted report?
Bursted reports are delivered at scheduled points in time (such as month end) and are delivered in a fixed format. If you want similar information at a different time or if you want to save the information to a spreadsheet, you should run a repository report.
Why can’t I find my bursted reports in My Reports?
The bursted reports are automatically deleted after two months. They must be saved to a local drive if you’d like to keep them longer.
