Pete Sala details SU construction projects

Vice President and Chief Facilities Officer Pete Sala discussed updates on multiple Campus Framework initiatives, including the National Veterans Resource Center and the future of Schine Student Center, in an interview with The Daily Orange.

Syracuse University will continue to work with minority- and women- owned business enterprises on construction and renovation projects, Sala said. Every project at SU has a goal of 10 percent of the workforce being from MWBEs, he added.

Progress on Campus Framework: Schine Student Center Renovation to Commence May 2019

The Schine Student Center, the hub of student life on the Syracuse University campus, will soon undergo a significant makeover. The renovation, which was identified as a key component of the Campus Framework, a 20-year roadmap meant to guide future campus planning and development, will begin in May 2019. The announcement comes on the heels of the Nov. 9 Board of Trustees meeting, during which the Board unanimously approved the planned renovation.

Syracuse University Announces $118 Million Investment to Create a New Stadium Experience

A new fixed roof, a vertically hung scoreboard, state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems, improved accessibility and added Wi-Fi capabilities are just a handful of features visitors to Syracuse University’s stadium will experience beginning in fall 2020. The $118 million investment, authorized by the Board of Trustees, will enable the University to create a new stadium experience for students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans alike. Today’s announcement represents the next step in advancing the $255 million West Campus transformation strategy the University first announced on May 16, 2016.
