’Cuse Scoops Ice Cream Shop Now Open at Drumlins Country Club

’Cuse Scoops at Drumlins Country Club is a new ice cream shop that features a wide variety of delicious Hershey’s ice cream flavors and sundaes, including classic favorites and unique creations.

Officially opened to the public on May 26, ’Cuse Scoops has since provided the Drumlins, Syracuse University and local communities with a convenient and delicious location to enjoy with family and friends.

Operations Manager Randy King Promoted to Director of Syracuse University’s Drumlins Country Club

Roger Hailstork and Tara Venditti, co-interim leaders of Auxiliary Services, announced today that Drumlins Country Club’s Operations Manager, Randy King, has been promoted to the position of Director as of November 15, 2022. King has served in this position in an interim capacity since July, 2022.

Operationally, King will ensure that the club’s members, guests, visitors, and neighbors who play golf or tennis, enjoy the pool, dine at Bistro 1926, or host an event, tournament, or camp will enjoy a first-rate experience.

“We will continue to add value to our members and guests by incorporating new amenities and facilitating necessary upgrades, all while focusing on improving the experience we offer to SU students, faculty, and staff,” said King. “It is paramount that we keep our club up-to-date and current with member expectations, while preserving its traditional warmth and heritage.​​”

Internally, King aims to build a team that is dedicated to member services, Drumlins’ amenities, and best-in-class hospitality.

“I am a firm believer in providing people with purpose, engagement, and empowerment to thrive and feel happy while performing at a high level,” King said.

A Central New York native, King spent the last 20 years in leadership positions focusing on sales and hospitality throughout the country, including stops in Denver and Ft. Lauderdale. He held the role of Operations Manager at Drumlins since his arrival at the club in April 2022.

Auxiliary Services Announces Two Changes to Leadership Team

Kris Klinger, Senior Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Services, announced two changes to the department’s leadership team and named interim leaders to head Drumlins Country Club and the University’s Food Services and Hospitality department.

Eamon Lee Named Interim Executive Director of Hospitality

Executive Director of Hospitality Jon Webster will depart Syracuse University effective July 15, 2022. Webster articulated a forward-thinking vision of Hospitality and Food Services at Syracuse University, and consistently demonstrated his passion for helping the Food Services department grow and flourish. Executive Chef Eamon Lee will step into the interim role as executive director while a search begins for a permanent leader. Chef Lee will continue the work he and Webster began, including a comprehensive review and refresh of residential dining services that will roll out throughout the 2022-23 academic year. He is an enthusiastic member of the Syracuse University community, a man who bleeds orange and will offer steady guidance to the Food Services department throughout the transition period.

Randy King Named Interim Director of Drumlins Country Club

Chris Myslow has concluded his time at Syracuse University as director of Drumlins Country Club. As the club’s Board of Directors begins the search for a new director, Klinger has asked Randy King to step in as the club’s interim director.

King, who has held the role of Director of Operations at Drumlins since April 2022, has previous leadership experience at other country clubs. His willingness to dive in at Drumlins and hit the ground running will ensure that the club’s members, guests, visitors, and neighbors who play golf or tennis, enjoy the pool, dine at the bistro or host an event, tournament or camp will continue to enjoy a first-rate experience. Randy will work closely with department leaders at the club to act as a conduit to relay information and solicit guidance between staff and Klinger and the Drumlins Board of Directors.

Auxiliary Services will provide further updates when permanent leaders for Drumlins and Food Services have been identified.

Drumlins Country Club Offers 10% Membership Discount to All Faculty and Staff

For the first time, Drumlins Country Club will offer Syracuse University faculty and staff members an exclusive 10% discount on a private, East Course golf membership or a public, West Course season pass. The discount is available now for the 2022 season.

The East Course (private) membership includes access to two 18-hole courses; participation in leagues, tournaments and events; PGA-trained instruction; private lessons; access to 24 reciprocal courses; and an optional driving range package for an added fee. Additionally, East Course membership provides access to discounted tennis club and swimming club memberships, and discounted guest pricing.

Executive Chef Len Mitchell: A New Direction for Drumlins’ Bistro 1926

“From the land and sea, to your heart and mind, to the table.” For Len Mitchell, the newly-appointed executive chef of Drumlins’ Bistro 1926, that is the essence of cuisine. Mitchell, a Syracuse native, has spent the last 25 years working, traveling and collecting the experience needed to introduce his globally inspired plant-forward menu for Bistro 1926.

“Our culinary mission at Drumlins is to provide world-class quality food with a healthy emphasis,” says Chris Myslow, director of Drumlins Country Club. “Chef Len enables us to be a market leader in Syracuse and we look forward to proving it to our guests every day.”

Auxiliary Services, CPDC Enhance Drumlins Trail System

For years, members of the University community have enjoyed the use of the trail system around the golf course at Drumlins Country Club for hiking, jogging, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The trails, which are open to use from sunrise to sunset, are also a resource utilized by the greater Central New York community.

Over the past few months, Auxiliary Services and a team from Campus Planning, Design and Construction have undertaken an effort to add modifications to the area for the safety of those who utilize the trail system. A fence has been installed along the south side of the 13th tee of the East Course to protect individuals from the sharp drop-off in the area. Signage has been posted at several trailheads and areas where community members enter the property to outline safe usage of the trail system. Additional signage about dangerous drop-offs, especially in the area surrounding the neighboring stone quarry, will be installed soon.

Drumlins Celebrates Grand Opening of Bistro 1926

On Thursday, June 3, Drumlins Country Club will celebrate the grand opening of its new restaurant, Bistro 1926. In a nod to the club’s nearly 100-year history, the name of the restaurant is a reference to the year the club opened.

The opening marks the start of an exciting new era at Drumlins. A new chef, Scott O’Connell, was brought on board in early May to revamp the menus for the club’s restaurant, catering and refreshment stand. He has brought an elevated new-American cuisine to Drumlins, offering a variety of sandwiches, pasta dishes and entrees on the menu.
